PROSA Cinema Screenings

Our film cycle is a celebration of artistic symbiosis, a tribute to the intricate relationship between the stage and the screen, where the language of adaptation intertwines with the passion for storytelling. In an era that embraces transmedia storytelling, we are guided by a deep appreciation for the capacity of both mediums to weave narratives and, consequently, captivate the audience. Welcome to the world of "From Theater to Cinema, With Love."**

Two unique yet interconnected destinies stand out in this cinematic rendezvous. "PROOF," born from the brilliant mind of David Auburn, with its theatrical representation dating back to 2000, is reimagined in the capable hands of John Madden in 2005, resulting in a memorable interpretation. This is the story of Catherine, a young woman whose mind is a duality of equations and secrets, and whose emotional depth resonates on the screen in a captivating and challenging manner. Catherine is a young woman who cared for her father, Robert, a mathematical genius, while he battled schizophrenia, and who discovers a notebook filled with mathematical notations that could revolutionize the field of mathematics. However, Catherine is suspicious of the authenticity of the notations, leading to conflicts and questioning.**

"Incendies," created originally for the stage by Wajdi Mouawad and premiered in 2003, embarks on an equally thrilling journey. Under the masterful direction of Denis Villeneuve in 2010, the narrative follows the twin siblings Jeanne and Simon Marwan, who, following their mother Nawal's death, discover letters with instructions from her. Their mother was a mysterious woman who led a tumultuous life, and her passing sets in motion a journey to discover their origins and the truth behind her life. The instructions in the letters lead Jeanne and Simon on a quest to find their father and brother, whom they have never met. It is a film that transmutes emotions from the page to the screen with a power that echoes through time.**

Today, we find ourselves in an era of transmedia convergence, where stories are woven across multiple platforms. "From Theater to Cinema, With Love" is not only a celebration of adaptation but also a testament to the unique capacity of cinema to enrich narrative. Cinema acts as a mirror of reality, reflecting the complexities of the human condition with unparalleled dexterity. Each film serves as a window into the human heart and its universal struggle. In this cycle, we invite you to contemplate the beauty of stories that transcend the medium's boundaries, where the richness of theater blends with the power of cinema, and where the love for narratives is honored in all its diversity and depth.**

Join us on this journey of discovery and cinematic appreciation. It is with passion that we share the magic of "From Theater to Cinema, With Love."**
