Abrir a temporada de setembro a dezembro com Stanley Kubrick é começar pelo futuro.
“2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968) não foi apenas um filme de ficção científica, mas um marco fundacional de como o cinema poderia imaginar o cosmos, a inteligência e o destino humano.
Kubrick antecipou, com rigor estético e filosófico, debates que hoje se tornaram urgentes: a relação entre a tecnologia e a consciência, entre o humano e a máquina. Da famosa sequência do monólito à presença inquietante de HAL 9000, o filme redefiniu a linguagem do género e continua a ser referência incontornável.

Esse olhar visionário ecoa em “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” (2001), projeto desenvolvido por Kubrick durante décadas e, após a sua morte, concretizado por Steven Spielberg.
O encontro entre estes dois cineastas cria um objeto único, onde a curadoria de uma ideia se transforma em autoria partilhada. Se em 2001 a viagem era cósmica, em A.I. é emocional: a saga de David, um rapaz-robô que deseja ser “real”, confronta-nos com a sobrevivência da memória e a impossibilidade de encerrar o desejo.
Kubrick planeou uma alegoria sombria sobre o abandono e a transcendência; Spielberg acrescentou-lhe um tom de fábula, sem trair a arquitetura original.

Entre a genialidade da visão cósmica e a intimidade da ficção sentimental, este ciclo reflete sobre como o cinema de Kubrick continua a pensar o futuro.
E lembra-nos que discutir Inteligência Artificial, hoje, é também revisitar a herança visionária de um dos maiores autores do século XX.

To open the September–December season with Stanley Kubrick is to begin with the future.
“2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968) was not just a science-fiction film, but a foundational landmark of how cinema could imagine the cosmos, intelligence, and human destiny.
Kubrick anticipated, with aesthetic and philosophical precision, debates that today have become urgent: the relationship between technology and consciousness, between the human and the machine. From the iconic monolith sequence to the unsettling presence of HAL 9000, the film redefined the language of the genre and remains an unshakable reference.

That visionary gaze resonates in “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” (2001), a project developed by Kubrick for decades and, after his death, brought to life by Steven Spielberg. The encounter between these two filmmakers created a unique object, where the curatorship of an idea turned into a form of shared authorship.
If in 2001 the journey was cosmic, in A.I. it is emotional: the saga of David, a robotic boy who longs to be “real,” confronts us with the survival of memory and the impossibility of closing desire.
Kubrick envisioned a dark allegory about abandonment and transcendence; Spielberg added a fable-like tone, without betraying the original architecture.
