Às vezes, a vida não segue o passo que imaginámos. Tropeçamos, inventamos, damos um giro inesperado — e, sem querer, estamos a dançar. Este ciclo junta dois filmes onde a dança — literal ou metafórica — é o gesto que liberta, que aproxima, que resiste. Homens que talvez nem saibam que dançam encontram, no movimento, uma forma de encaixar no mundo.
Em The Blues Brothers, o americano John Landis coloca dois irmãos a atravessar a cidade ao som de soul e blues, movendo-se no compasso de uma missão impossível, onde cada passo, cada deslize, é uma arte de sobrevivência e sedução. Em Happy Together, Wong Kar-Wai cria uma paisagem emocional onde a dança surge como breve instante de harmonia num amor que se desfaz, um impulso de beleza diante da melancolia do desencontro. Estes homens quase dançam, quase amam, quase cabem no mundo — mas é nesse quase que encontramos a verdadeira coreografia da vida. Porque viver é, afinal, dançar com o que não se pode controlar. Dançar é dar ao incontrolável alguma harmonia.

Sometimes life doesn’t follow the steps we imagined. We stumble, we improvise, we spin unexpectedly — and, without meaning to, we find ourselves dancing. This cycle brings together two films where dance — literal or metaphorical — becomes a gesture of freedom, of connection, of resistance. Men who perhaps don’t even know they are dancing discover, in movement, a way to fit into the world.

In The Blues Brothers, American director John Landis sets two brothers crossing the city to the sound of soul and blues, moving to the rhythm of an impossible mission, where each step, each slip, becomes an art of survival and seduction. In Happy Together, Wong Kar-Wai creates an emotional landscape where dance emerges as a brief moment of harmony within a love that is falling apart — a sudden impulse of beauty in the face of melancholy and disconnection. These are men who almost dance, almost love, almost belong — but it is in this “almost” that we find life’s true choreography. Because to live is, after all, to dance with what cannot be controlled. To dance is to offer some harmony to the uncontrollable.
