Screenings
After this season of classic and fictional films, we are pleased to present a series of concert films that celebrate the unique sound and aesthetics of 80s punk-gothic rock, featuring two of the most iconic bands of that era: Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure. Get ready for an unforgettable musical and visual journey, immersing yourself in the alternative spirit that defined a generation.
On Friday, July 26th at 7:30 PM, we will screen "Siouxsie and the Banshees: Nocturne," a concert film directed by Mike Hedges. Recorded at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London over two nights in 1983, this video is a must-see for any fan of the gothic movement or those who loved the alternative music scene of the 80s. Siouxsie Sioux showcases her unmistakable charisma, with a powerful voice and stunning gothic attire, captivating the audience with vibrant performances of classics like "Israel," "Cascade," "Melt," "Pulled To Bits," and a memorable cover of The Beatles' "Helter Skelter."
As an added bonus, this concert was filmed during the tenure of Robert Smith, The Cure’s vocalist, as the guitarist for the Banshees, adding an extra touch of magic to these already inspired performances. The combination of Siouxsie's magnetic presence and Smith's talent creates a show that deeply resonates with the rebellious and innovative spirit of the era.
Finally, we will present a selection of live moments from the famous SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES | At the BBC: a DVD that features several live sessions filmed for The Old Gray Whistle Test and Oxford Road Show, including a TV session in 1979 and some TV appearances from November 1982 to March 1991.
On Saturday, July 27th at 7:30 PM, we continue with "The Cure in Orange," a concert film directed by Tim Pope in 1987. This is a must-see treasure for any fan of The Cure or the gothic movement. Captured live in France at one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world, the film highlights the emotional intensity and captivating atmosphere that envelop The Cure's concerts.
Robert Smith, The Cure's vocalist, is one of those rare artists who manage to surpass their studio recordings with even more impressive live performances. The authenticity and power of his voice, combined with the band's energy, provide a unique show that transports the audience to the heart of the 80s.
This series of concert films not only celebrates the music but also the essence of an era marked by artistic expression and cultural revolution. Join us for these special nights and rediscover the magic of 80s punk-gothic rock in an environment that promises emotion, nostalgia, and pure inspiration. The concerts will feature subtitled songs to highlight the importance of the lyrics and all textual information in the music. Even if this isn’t the type of cinema you’re used to, come and enjoy!

Concert film recorded at London's Royal Albert Hall over two nights in 1983, this concert video is a must-watch for goth fans or anyone who loved the 'alternative' music scene of the 1980s. Siouxsie is at her charismatic best, with excellent voice and full goth regalia, twirling, prancing and capturing the audience with inspired performances of some of the band's best material from the early '80s, including Israel, Cascade, Melt, Pulled To Bits and the Beatles cover Helter Skelter. As an added bonus, this was filmed during Robert Smith's tenure as Banshee's guitarist.

For any Cure or Goth fan, this concert film is a must-see. As concert films go, this is by far the best I've seen. The excitement and atmosphere surrounding this show is incredible. Vocalist Robert Smith is one of those rare artists who sounds better live than on CD. (Unlike those artists who rely on “studio magic” to improve their voices, but in concert they can’t deliver a note.)
All Cinema PROSA films will be shown on an illuminated pixel (65'' QLED screen) in a room with a maximum of 24 spectators.
